Cuba sees 3,150 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

HAVANA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Cuba on Tuesday registered 3,150 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and four more related deaths, bringing the nation's caseload to 1,005,649 and its pandemic death toll to 8,345.

The Health Ministry said there were 17,686 active COVID-19 cases on the island, including 37 in intensive care units.

Cuba's eastern province of Las Tunas registered the highest number of daily coronavirus cases (618), followed by the provinces of Holguin (429) and Mayabeque (284).

The Caribbean nation has registered 35,870 confirmed cases of the coronavirus so far in January, according to health authorities.
