Because of ongoing complications and travel restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic, tournament organizers have canceled this year's Hero World Challenge.
Tiger Woods' TGR Foundation made the announcement on Monday. The Hero World Challenge is an unofficial 18-player event that was scheduled for Dec. 3-6 at Albany, Bahamas.
"Given the current global restrictions and ongoing developments resulting from COVID-19, the 2020 Hero World Challenge will not be played this year," said the statement posted by the TGR Foundation on social media.
"This decision was made with the health and well-being of all tournament constituents and the Albany community in mind."
The tournament is expected to return in the Bahamas in 2021.
Henrik Stenson is the defending champion of the event.
Woods has won his own tournament five times and has five runner-up finishes, all which came when the tournament was held at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
