LA TRINIDAD Benguet, June 1 (PIA) - - Stay safe and continue to adhere to the community quarantine rules especially on wearing of mask, social distancing and on staying at home as much as possible.
This is the advice of La Trinidad Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation chairperson Apolinario Bagano Jr. to fellow youth during the Laging Handa Network Briefing today of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.
The whole province of Benguet is among the geographical areas in the country now under Modified General Community Quarantine.
Bagano shared that the SK federation of La Trinidad has been hekping their fellow youth in coping with the effects of the community quarantine that started in March 16.
Bagano reported that through the Local Youth Development Office, they provided free internet access and printing services to the youth of the municipality for their online classes requirements, as well as to the stranded students completing their school requirements and those who need online communication with their parents/family members in their respective hometown.
The SK opened the Municipal Youth Center at the public market for internet usage of the youth during their window hours or their scheduled day to come out. They also coordinated with the barangay officials to allow students to have access in the internet connections of the barangay facilities.
Bagano also reported that since the start of the community quarantine, they were active in relief operations for stranded students in the municipality, in coordination with the provincial government, the municipal officials and other private donors.
For their Kabataan Kontra COVID - 19 relief operations, SK La Trinidad distributed 150 food packs to stranded students and individual in needs with the help of various donors and over 1,000 more food packs from the SK funds of the different barangays in the municipality.
The SK federation also helped in the distribution of hygiene kits and alcohol refills, Bagano reported.
The youth in the municipality are also active in repacking and distribution of vegetables donated/purchased for relief operations as well as in the "Urban Gardening Challenge" advocacy of the municipal agriculture office and the Department of the Agriculture. (JDP/CCD with RMC- PIA CAR)
